Sanicare Contributes to Subic’s Environmental Restoration with Tree Planting

10 / 2 / 2024

[TAGUIG, PHILIPPINES] – Sanicare, a leading provider of quality hygiene products in the Philippines, reaffirms its dedication to environmental conservation through a successful tree planting activity held at the Mangan Vaca Watershed Forest Reserve in Subic, Zambales.

In line with its ongoing efforts to protect and preserve the natural environment, Sanicare planted a total of 1,250 seedlings (1,150 Narra seedlings and 100 Pilaway seedlings). The event brought together 49 employees from the Central Luzon and North Luzon offices, who worked alongside volunteers from the Haribon Foundation to plant trees in designated areas and beyond.

A Decade of Partnership for a Greener PH

Haribon orients Team SCPA before they go up the trail and plant more trees.

This isn’t the first joint project between the two organizations. Since 2014, Sanicare has been partnering with Haribon to nurture a greener Philippines, planting more than 13,000 seedlings across over seven hectares of land, with an impressive 90 percent survival rate.

Previously, Sanicare’s tree planting activities were focused on Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon. However, since these sites were already full of seedlings, the team moved to another reforestation area that required help (i.e., Subic, Zambales).

Beyond The Trees: A Positive Impact on the Team and Community

Happy smiles as we do our part in saving Mother Nature.

The tree planting activity was a resounding success, marked by exceptional teamwork, community engagement, and valuable learning experiences. Participants exhibited a high level of enthusiasm and dedication, working collaboratively to plant trees and contribute to the revitalization of the forest reserve.

“The trek was hard, but it was worth it. The thought of doing something for our Mother Nature kept me going, and it was truly fulfilling to see the mission accomplished,” said Alvin Jay Castro, a maintenance engineer for the company.

During the trek, the team was also educated on the benefits of continuous reforestation, which included strengthening our defenses against natural calamities. Speaking on the event, Institutional Sales Specialist Albert Soliman shared, “This experience holds even more significance for me, especially considering the recent strong typhoons and climate  change.”

Another highlight of the event was the positive impact on the local community, as residents participated and witnessed firsthand the benefits of reforestation efforts. This engagement fostered a sense of shared responsibility and strengthened the bond between Sanicare and the community.

Furthermore, the activity provided participants with valuable insights into environmental conservation and the importance of reforestation. This knowledge will undoubtedly inspire them to continue their efforts towards sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.

Here’s to another year of planting more trees for a greener future!

Sanicare, together with Haribon, remains committed to its environmental goals and will continue to implement initiatives that contribute to a healthier and more sustainable planet.
