SCPA Hosts First PCCI-Taguig General Assembly, Discusses Republic Act 11976: Ease of Paying Taxes Act

6 / 26 / 2024

TAGUIG, Philippines – Sanitary Care Products Asia (SCPA), one of the Philippines’ trusted providers of quality hygiene solutions, proudly hosted the first General Assembly of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Taguig for 2024.

The event welcomed PCCI-Taguig members with opening remarks from PCCI-Taguig Vice President, Mr. Renato Sio, who is also the Founder and Chairman of SCPA, Inc. Mr. Henry Gaw, the President of PCCI-Taguig, introduced the organization for the assembled audience.

SCPA expressed its delight at facilitating this gathering, fostering a space for open discussion on a crucial topic: the newly enacted Republic Act 11976, or the Ease of Paying Taxes Act.

Revenue officers from BIR RDO 44 discuss the Republic Act 11976 to help PCCI-Taguig members with their tax compliances.

The program featured informative talks from esteemed guests, all of whom are BIR Revenue Officers from RDO 44:

  • Atty. Hezel Solana
  • Atty. Hayden Allauigan
  • Mr. Christian Garcia

These speakers provided valuable insights into the Act and its implications for businesses. The EOPT Act streamlines the registration process for electronic or manual filing of tax returns and payments. Businesses can now file with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) or authorized channels regardless of your registered location, avoiding penalties for “wrong venue” filings. The law introduces a new system classifying taxpayers based on gross sales. This may impact filing requirements and deadlines.

The EOPT Act sets specific timeframes for the BIR to respond to refund claims and taxpayer remedies, making the process more predictable. The speakers also emphasized the role of technology for tax administration, which means businesses could have more online filing options from the BIR in the future.

Following the presentations, a dedicated Q&A session allowed participants to voice their concerns and ask clarifying questions about the Ease of Paying Taxes Act. The session aimed to offer clarification on any concerns. Increased clarity on tax regulations fosters better compliance, potentially reducing the risk of penalties and late fees.

Olivia Escartin from Oseas Technologies Inc. is inducted to the PCCI-Taguig.

The General Assembly also witnessed the induction of Olivia Escartin from Oseas Technologies Inc. to the esteemed PCCI-Taguig organization.

SCPA is committed to supporting the Philippine business community and fostering a vibrant economic landscape. We believe this event served as a valuable platform for PCCI-Taguig members to gain knowledge and network, ultimately contributing to a more streamlined and efficient tax environment for Filipino businesses.
